Our Story

Fine workmanship. Natural materials. Made in Sydney.

Chalk and Cheese Timber is the work of a second-generation Sydney carpenter who grew up watching timber transform into something genuinely useful and genuinely beautiful. That upbringing left a mark — a deep belief that good work takes time, that natural materials deserve respect, and that shortcuts always show up eventually.

Every board we make comes from a single solid piece of Australian hardwood. No glues. No joins. No veneers. Just the timber, shaped by hand and finished with our own organic beeswax blend.

We work with Blackbutt, River Red Gum, and Tasmanian Oak — species chosen for their density, their beauty, and their suitability for everyday food contact use.

Each piece is numbered. Each one is different. When it's gone, it's gone.

We don't have a big team or a factory floor. What we have is a workshop, decades of knowledge passed down through two generations, and a genuine care for the things we make.

We started small, and we've stayed that way on purpose.

Because when something is made with this much care, it speaks for itself.
